Local Plan Consultation - Final Call
The final deadline for residents' comments on Colchester's Draft Local Plan (and the 900+ new houses proposed for Langham) is 14th January 2026.
Please let Colchester City Council know what you think. You may be skeptical about whether they will take any notice, but if you don't comment then please don't moan when the bulldozers move in!
Langham Parish Council will shortly be submitting over 140 pages of evidenced objections to the plans for Langham, comprising a 15 page summary report with over 130 pages of supporting appendices. Here is the current draft of those objections.
If you care about the future of our village as a village, please read (at least) our 15 page report and use it as inspiration to submit your own objection to the plans. You may want to focus on one or two issues of particular concern to you, and develop detailed supporting arguments. Or (if pressed for time) you might prefer simply to state that you support some or all of the reasoned objections being submitted by Langham Parish Council.
There are three ways you can respond to the Consultation exercise:
Method 1: Online (strongly preferred by Colchester City Council)
Visit https://colchester.oc2.uk/document/81/5345#d5419 , read policy PP37 outlining the plans for Langham, press the COMMENT button, register an account with Colchester City Council, and then write and submit your comments. If you write more than 100 words, you will be asked to provide a precis of less than 100 words, so it might be simpler to make a number of separate smaller comments in order to avoid this unreasonable imposition.
Method 2: by email
Send an email to Local.Plan@colchester.gov.uk, titled Objection to Draft Policy PP37.
Make sure you include your full name and address with postcode, so that CCC can validate you as a Colchester resident.
Method 3: by letter
Send a letter addressed to:
Planning Policy Team,
Colchester City Council,
Rowan House,
33 Sheepen Road,
Colchester,
CO3 3WG.
Once again, make sure you reference Draft Planning Policy PP37, and make sure to include your full name, address and postcode.
