Flooding & Sewage Issues

The links below provide further information on how to report issues to the appropriate authorities, which for most of the topics below will either be to Essex County Council via their online reporting systems, or, depending on the nature of the issue, to Anglian Water. Please note that Parish Councils have no additional "hotlines" for reporting issues to these bodies. We therefore politely request that residents report issues themselves in the first instance. If you get no satisfaction then PLEASE DO REPORT THIS to us. This will help us build an evidence-based picture of where online and telephone reporting systems might be failing, so that we can lobby for improvements to the reporting mechanisms.
The nature and location of a flooding issue is key to determining who has responsibility to deal with it. Anglian Water has a moderately helpful explanatory schematic guide:

Blocked Sewers

If you suspect a blocked sewer, contact Anglian Water's 24 hour emergency contact number which is 03457 145145.

Surface Water Issues

For most other flooding issues, start by visiting the Essex County Council online reporting portal which will point you towards the appropriate reporting mechanism depending on the nature and location of the problem:
