Local Plan Update
At the Local Plan meeting last night, City Councillors voted 11-1 to progress the emerging Local Plan to a second Public Consultation stage (so called "Reg 19", following the "Reg 18" consultation held at the end of last year). The consultation will launch in the next few days, and will run for a 6 week period through to mid October.
The proposed "strategic" Langham housing allocation has been reduced very slightly, from 900 to 850 houses, but will still completely overwhelm the village. There is still no clarity about sewage provision, Primary School provision, road safety improvements and many other key issues.
Langham Parish Council made a Have Your Say representation at the meeting, viewable below, raising the possibility of launching a legal challenge by Judicial Review if the current Plan proceeds to full adoption in its current form. In the shorter term, we need to prepare a thorough and well evidenced response to the Regulation 19 consultation, explaining and justifying why the Langham housing allocation is neither sound in planning terms, nor legally compliant.
We will issue further guidance to residents in the next couple of weeks, on how best to engage with the Reg 19 consultation exercise.
